Listening to Your Inner Voice
What OUR intuition and inner voice is really trying to tell US.
Ever had that gut feeling that you ignored, only to later think, “I knew it”? That’s your intuition speaking. Learning to listen to that quiet inner voice takes time, patience, and honestly… a few mistakes (speaking from experience, of course). But when it comes to recovery it can be a powerful tool to guide us.
Intuition is defined as “the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.” How does this relate to you on your recovery? Learning to listen to ourselves goes hand-in-hand with learning to also listen to our bodies. If we are tired, worn out, emotionally or physically spent, then it would be quite normal for your body and mind to be telling you that you need rest. It’s up to you to have awareness and listen to what your body needs.
Not progressing as much or as fast as you'd like in your recovery? Sometimes, this is normal. But it’s also a moment to pause and reflect. Ask yourself:
Am I fueling my body with the nutrients it needs?
Am I getting 8+ hours of quality sleep?
Am I consistently completing my exercises?
Am I speaking to myself with kindness and grace?
If you answered “no” to any of these, it might be time to shift something in your recovery.
This is where I often introduce my clients to the Optimal Recovery Log—a simple tool that helps you track four key pillars of recovery: sleep, nutrition, movement, and self-talk. When you start paying attention to these areas, patterns emerge. You’ll likely notice places where small shifts can make a big impact.
Your body often already knows what it needs. Your intuition isn’t silent, it’s just subtle. The more you practice tuning in, bringing awareness to your needs, the louder and more clear it becomes. And with that awareness comes clarity. Strength. Direction. Having trouble in any of these areas? Head over to the Work With Me page to see how I could help you on your journey. Want access to my Optimal Recovery Log? Shoot me an email and I’ll send it over to you.
Keep up the amazing work and know that I am forever rooting for you.
